Calahonda is situated in Mijas between Marbella and Fuengirola and is an area chiefly developed for tourism in the 60's, with extensive apartment blocks and timeshare facilities stretching from the coast into the hills behind. Since its foundation in 1963 Sitio de Calahonda has won several awards over the years including, an international award for the best Spanish urbanisation for the year 2001.
